Chocolate Nutella Macarons
Ingredients:
- 1 cup almond flour
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 large egg whites
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup Nutella hazelnut spread
- 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 300F 150C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper
In a food processor, combine almond flour and powdered sugar
Pulse until well combined and fine in texture
In a mixing bowl, beat the egg whites until they form soft peaks
Gradually add granulated sugar while continuing to beat until stiff peaks form
Gently fold the almond flour and powdered sugar mixture into the beaten egg whites until you get a smooth batter
Be careful not to overmix
Transfer the batter into a piping bag with a round tip and pipe small circles onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about an inch apart
Let the piped macarons sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to form a dry skin on top
Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until the macarons have formed feet and are set
Remove from the oven and allow them to cool completely on the baking sheet
While the macarons are cooling, prepare the filling
In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream until it begins to simmer
Remove from heat and add the dark chocolate chips
Stir until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is smooth
Let the chocolate ganache cool slightly, then stir in Nutella until well combined
Match up the cooled macaron shells in pairs of similar size
Pipe or spoon the Nutella chocolate ganache onto one shell of each pair, then gently sandwich them together
Drizzle some melted dark chocolate over the top of each macaron for added decoration
Refrigerate the macarons for at least 24 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld and the texture to improve
Serve your delicious Chocolate Nutella Macarons and enjoy!
