Nigiri Sushi
Nigiri sushi is a classic Japanese dish consisting of hand-pressed sushi rice topped with fresh fish. It is simple yet elegant, allowing the flavors of the fish to shine.
Ingredients:
- 200g sushi rice
- 200ml water
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp sugar
- tsp salt
- 150g fresh fish such as salmon or tuna, thinly sliced
- Wasabi paste
- Soy sauce
Instructions:
Run cold water over the sushi rice until the water is clear
In a rice cooker, put rice and water together and cook according to the manufacturer's directions
Put rice vinegar, sugar, and salt in a small saucepan and mix them together
Low-level heat until the sugar and salt are gone
Wait for it to cool down
When you add the vinegar mixture to the cooked rice in a large bowl, be careful not to break up the rice grains
Wet your hands with water to keep the rice from sticking, then roll it into small oblongs
Put a little wasabi paste on top of each pile of rice, and then put a fresh fish slice on top of each one
Nigiri sushi should be served with soy sauce on the side
